Brown Legal Founder, Peter Brown, is one of the Commonwealth’s leading attorneys for complex litigation, whether it be business, appellate, or municipal, and is known for his strategic and results-oriented approach. 

Peter’s core belief is that a law firm should be a strategic partner with its clients, always acting as a problem solver with a relentless focus on achieving the client’s desired result.

Peter received his J.D. from Suffolk Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review and a Rappaport Fellow, and his B.A. from Emerson College. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York, First Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. 

Peter’s legal services have also involved litigating in the Bombay High Court of India, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, FINRA, MCAD, EEOC, and in state and federal courts across the country.

Allison Finnell

Allison is a Senior Associate with the firm focusing on real estate title and land use matters.  Allison brings over nine years of experience working intimately with the Land Court examiners and surveying staff.  Allison's real estate expertise extends to all matters affecting title, including boundary disputes, surveying challenges, the application of various legal statutes and theories to determine the correct record owner of a property, title curative resolutions, and working through title issues arising out of recorded and registered commercial and residential leases, trust instruments, and condominium documents.  

Allison has worked with numerous title insurance companies to resolve title issues and to close the particular transaction. Whether the issue raised is large or small, a title issue can derail a major transaction and disrupt people's lives or business.  Allison brings her legal knowledge and practical approach to promptly and efficiently resolve the problems encountered.     

Allison works closely with municipal clients to achieve their tax title collection goals.  She understands the need for compassion in these matters and has been largely successful in recovering millions of real estate tax debt for her clients.  Allison has years of experience litigating hundreds of cases in the Massachusetts Land Court, as well as working closely with the Court to assist in developing programs for tax title litigation state-wide.  

Allison received her J.D. from New England Law | Boston and her B.A. from Boston University. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Allison was also selected as a 2022 and 2023 Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Stars Honoree.

Tommy Orr is a seasoned litigator with over a decade of experience. His practice focuses on commercial disputes, land use matters and construction-related disputes.  

Litigation is a means to an end. He understands this and works with his clients to accomplish their goals in a direct and efficient manner.  Tommy has represented clients throughout the Massachusetts state court system and in federal court.  

Tommy received his J.D. from Suffolk Law School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, where he was a four-year member of the men’s lacrosse team. He received the Robert A. Latour Service Award, which recognizes senior athletes for service to the Bucknell and local communities. Tommy is admitted to the Bar of the US Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit.

Tiffany Marzouk is an associate who specializes in real estate and municipal tax title.  She has broad experience handling a wide range of complex, title-related matters involving trusts, estates with missing or deceased heirs, unidentified encumbrances, and surveying disputes.  She has experience litigating in the Massachusetts Land Court and assists our municipal clients and property owners throughout the process.

While in law school, Tiffany was a student attorney for the Suffolk University Law School Innocence Clinic where she worked in conjunction with the New England Innocence Project.  She was also a law clerk for an employment litigation firm and interned at a non-profit organization providing legal services to low-income residents of the greater Boston community.

Tiffany received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and her B.A. in English with a Writing and Rhetoric concentration from Villanova University.  She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts along with being admitted in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.

Roxanne A. Stokes is an associate who specializes in real estate, corporate entity formation and governance, and municipal tax title matters.  She has broad experience resolving a wide range of complex title-related matters involving estates with missing or deceased heirs, defective trust instruments, condominiums, unidentified encumbrances, and land surveying disputes.  She has litigated extensively in the Massachusetts Land Court across a wide array of real estate related cases.

While in law school, Roxanne was a student attorney for the Suffolk University Law School Family Advocacy Clinic and served as Vice President of the Black Law Students Association.  Additionally, she was a member of the Journal of High Technology where her note on copyright infringement was selected for publication.  Roxanne also interned at the Supreme Judicial Court in its Court Improvement Program which worked with various judges and court personnel to improve the judicial process as it pertained to child welfare court rules.

Roxanne received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and her B.A. in Philosophy from Smith College.  She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York, and the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.

Alma Quijada is an associate focusing on real estate and land use matters. Alma has extensive experience with real estate laws and regulations affecting private and public entities, resolving title issues arising from boundary and surveying disputes, defective trusts, and property inheritance disputes. Her experience also extends to municipal tax title matters and complex property transactions involving easements, licenses, and leases. She has years of experience litigating complicated real estate related cases in the Massachusetts Land Court.

While in law school, Alma interned with non-profit organizations providing legal services to low-income residents and was awarded a Consumer Law Public Service Fellowship.

Alma received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and her B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Alma is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Joseph Ertl

 

Joe Ertl is an associate focusing on real estate, land use matters, and municipal tax title.  While in law school, Joe worked with Rutgers University School of Law’s Public Interest and Pro Bono Program where he contributed to the legal and race equity frameworks of a disparity study commissioned by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Additionally, he interned at a non-profit medical research organization in Boston and at a branch of the central bank of the United States, supporting the in-house functions of their respective Legal Departments. Prior to law school, he was also a legal assistant at a trust and estates firm and worked as an intern with a civil litigation firm focusing on toxic tort cases.

Joe received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and his B.A in Sociology and English from Boston College. Joe is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
